Portrait... or Day in the life?
What’s the difference between a portrait reportage and a “Day in the life” session? And which option is best in line with my expectations?
Portret
For a portrait, I will need about one hour of your time. We can shoot at your place or (after discussion) at any other location of your choice. The key here is to keep it spontaneous, but if needed I will share some advice about locations, poses and the general set-up of the reportage. After all, we want to make the most of time we spend together so you can go home with timeless, authentic pictures.
A portrait of yourself, your couple or your family? There’s no better way to look back on happy times. This kind of reportage is perfect for baby pictures too. A thoughtful gift for the grandparents or just a nice way to treat yourself!
Day in the life
For a “Day in the life” session, you’ll have to free up about 4 hours – or even a little more if you choose a “Destination day in the life” on location. But, most of the time, this kind of family photography is best shot at home so I can picture your family’s daily interactions. Apart from a few family pictures, I don’t intervene at all during this kind op reportage so we can keep it totally spontaneous.
I’m always looking for nice moments of connection, funny situations, mischief and pouting faces but it’s also about those quiet little moments of wonder. Your pictures will be unique, just as you are, and that’s why every reportage is totally different!
Don’t plan too much! The best pictures often come from just being together, or “hanging” as teens would say. Think of those lazy Sunday mornings spent together in bed. We’ll discuss how we can best spend the day together in order to capture who you are as a family in the most authentic way.
A “Day in the life” session captures a fleeting moment of your life. Your habits, inside jokes, your home – whether it’s super neat or full of life – and those little everyday things that make your family so uniquely yours. These pictures tell something about who you are as a family and how you interact with each other. That’s what makes these pictures so precious right now, and what will make them even more precious later on.
Life is full of little choices!
Both options come with a stunning photo book with your favorite pictures, a slideshow to give you a preview and a handy online gallery. A portrait comes with 25 pictures, a “Day in the life” session comes with 50. If you wish, you can always buy additional pictures or even all of them. Don’t hesitate to reach out for further information or to talk about my availability. I’d love to make some time for your questions and your story!
